BaSys 4.2 Project

  Partner BaSys 4.2 Project

On July 01, 2019, the joint project Basic System Industry 4.2 (BaSys4.2) started as a follow-up project of the BaSys4.0 project. The Chair of Process Control Engineering is involved in the project on behalf of RWTH Aachen University surrounded by 18 additional partners from industry and research.

The project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, aims to further develop the open source middleware developed in the BaSys4.0 project with the vision of a flexible and adaptable production up to the economic production of batch size one. The existing system represents the digital process image of all devices and services relevant in an industrial process via the asset administration shell concept of the Industrie 4.0 platform. These are to be further standardized in the project through definitions and concrete use. The existing concepts will also be extended by the aspects of continuous engineering as well as the requirements of the process industry. The Chair of Information and Automation Systems for Process and Material Technology contributes to the success of the project in particular by consolidating the metamodel landscape and by further developing control concepts with Control Components in the context of operational process control. Furthermore, information and modeling concepts are developed for the realization of holistic engineering. Furthermore, the chair contributes to the transfer of the project results into standardization and norming. Through close cooperation with GMA, ZVEI, DKE and Plattform I4.0 standardized concepts from the Industry 4.0 environment are brought into the project.
