Production rules in modular plants - FEPMA

The engineering of production specifications is a time-consuming and cost-intensive process. This is especially the case when changes occur to the process, product characteristics or existing production resources. A possible solution to save costs could be the automation or the use of an assistance in the derivation of a production resource related basic recipe from the production resource independent process or plant recipe (cf. ISA 88 / IEC 61512).

Current research attempts to provide parts of this process. Thus, with the help of MTP a possibility for the description of modules and their services is given. However, the semantic description of the services is currently missing. With the help of MTP and PEA partial models in management shells this gap shall be closed. In the context of capabilities, there is current research on the creation of knowledge bases with the help of ontologies. In these, relationships between different capability concept definitions can then be established via links to process operations.

A concept that integrates the individual partial results and integrates them into an overall process is missing so far. For this reason, such a concept is to be developed within the research project and evaluated on the basis of a prototype at the Chair of Information and Automation Systems for Process and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. The M4P demonstrator of the chair serves as a prototype, which provides process engineering modules with different functionalities.
